Pete Postlethwaite

On Sunday (January 2nd 2011), the Oscar-nominated actor lost his battle with cancer.

Spielberg famously described Postlethwaite as “probably the best actor in the world today”. Others in the movie industry who have paid tribute include Julie Walters, who worked with him at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre in the 1970s. She told the Press Association that he was “the most exciting, exhilarating actor of his generation”. Fellow actor Daniel Day-Lewis added that he “shouldn’t have gone”.

Pete was also a teacher at Loreto College (I have been informed that it was in the 1960’s).
